Abstract
601,564. Hand-shears. KING, D. J. Nov. 30, 1945, No. 32391. [Class 30] Shears comprise a pair of blades B<1>, C<2> at least one of which, C<2>, has a straight cutting edge and which are pivoted to one another at a point C<1> off-set to one side from the line of the edge of C<2>, and a pair of longitudinal operating-members A, C extending generally along or parallel to the line of the edge, the member C being rigid with the blade C<2> while the member A is pivoted to the blade B<1> at a point A<2> offset on the other side of the line of the cutting edge from the pivot between the blades. The handles are constituted by one end A<1> of the member A and by a lever D pivotally linked at D<1> to the member C and at D<2> to the member A, and are acted upon by a harpoon type of spring E. The blade B<1> comprises two plates having secured between them a strip or pad of brass. A stop member F<1> is pivoted to the member A to engage the head of the bolt D<1> so as to hold the shears in the closed position.
