Abstract

609,702. Secateurs. BRIDGES, T. C. March 21, 1946, Nos. 8755 and 24868. [Class 30] Secateurs comprise a fixed jaw 5 carried by a bar 13, and a cutting jaw 10 pivoted to the jaws at 11 and actuated by a link 23 connected to a pin 21 slidable in a slot 22 in the bar 13, the pin 21 providing a joint between a link 19 whereby the pin is connected with a handle 17 pivoted to the bar 13 at 18, and the link 23 connecting the pin with the cutter. The link 19 and handle 17 may be duplicated as shown in the figure, or the bar 13 may be extended to form a handle, Fig. 3 (not shown) a helical spring connecting the pins 18, 21. The jaw 5, bar 13 and link 23 consist of parallel plates, the jaw parts being separated by distance pieces 6, 7.
