Abstract

326,658. Oakley, E. C. F. March 6, 1929. Shears. - A device for pruning trees, having a fixed stem of tubular or channelled shape formed with a cranked handle 2 and a bifurcated end, has a fixed blade 3 secured thereto bv a rivet 4 and fitted into the bifurcation at one end. An operative member 7 engages at 11 a movable handle 12 pivoted at 13 to the fixed member 1, is formed at the other end with a closed slot 8 to slide on the rivet 4 and with an open slot 9 to engage a pin 10 on a moving blade 6. A spring 14 normally maintains the blades in the open position, and the fixed blade has a hook-shaped end, chamfered on the inside as shown at 16.
