274,720. Wynn, Timmins, & Co., Ltd., and Randall, T. A. Dec. 28, 1926. Shears. - A simplified construction of pruning &c. shears having a toggle operated sliding blade comprises a member a provided with a transverse or inclined slot a<1> to receive the twig &c. to be cut, handles b pivoted to member a pivoted to toggle links d which operate a sliding rod e connected to the blade f which slides in guides on the member a, and a spring c tending to separate the handles b and retract the blade. In the cutting stroke the blade moves away from the handle. A hooked link g may be provided adapted to engage a stud to hold the handles in closed position.
