Abstract

620,849. Automatic control systems. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 26, 1946, No. 22319. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1942. [Class 38 (iv)] Voltage.-In order that a low D.C. potential may be applied across load terminals 4 and still maintain the anode and screen grid potentials of a valve 7 controlling a regulating triode 6 at a sufficiently high value, a resistance of constant volt drop 10, which in the embodiment described is a glow-tube, is interposed between the triode output and the load. The anode and screen grid potentials thus include the total drop across this glow-tube. The battery 11 controlling the grid bias of the pentode 7 is made variable. In modifications the controlling voltage is obtained from the supply terminals or from a potentiometer connected across the load, or else the control voltage is made variable in accordance with the load by deriving it from a resistance in the negative supply lead. A switch 12 may shortcircuit the glow-tube if desired.
