[Glass 38 (ii)] In a method of doubling, in effect, the number of phases in a rectifier equipment comprising a multi-anode discharge device associated with interphase transformers having secondary windings such as forms the subject of the parent Specification, the equipment is provided with auxiliary transformer windings 14, 15 connected in parallel with the windings of the main transformer in order to afford low impedance paths to triple harmonic currents which may exist in the main anode circuits. If the windings of the auxiliary transformers are of the " interconnected star " type a secondary winding is not essential. They may, however, by of a simple star-connected type with delta-connected secondary windings, such as 22, which may supply auxiliary power requirements. In alternative arrangements the auxiliary transformers may be connected in parallel with the main transformer primary windings, or, if pairs of main transformer secondary windings are closely interwound, it may be sufficient to connect the auxiliary transformer windings to only half of the main transformer secondary windings. Specification 620,347 is referred to concerning the arrangement of interphase transformers.
