Abstract
620,090. Rolling screw-threads. ACTON BOLT, Ltd., and AFFLECK, T. K. Jan. 3, 1947, No. 290. [Class 83 (iv)] In a screw-thread rolling appliance of the type comprising a pair of free and independent screw-threaded rolls rotatably mounted on a carrier to engage revolving work, the threadforming surfaces are offset axially one to the other so that each produces a thread on one of the parts of the work. The rolls 12 are carried on spindles 14 mounted in the jaws of a bracket 11 pivoted to the carrier block 10 on a pin 13. A helical spring 15 and leaf springs 16 permit a small degree of axial play of the bracket 11 on its pin 13 and the rolls 12 on their spindles 14 respectively, Fig. 4 (not shown). The threads produced by each roll may be of different form or pitch. The screw 19 allows slight variation in the distance between the rolls. Specification 499,277 is referred to.
