Abstract

687,432. Toothed gearing. AEPPLI, A., and GROB, H. Aug. 22, 1950, No. 20753/50. Class 80 (i). [Also in Group XXXIV] In a rectilinear-motion bearing comprising rollers 5 having gear teeth 9 engaging racks 10, 11 secured to the relatively movable parts 2, 1, the diameter of the pitch circle of the gear teeth is equal to the diameter of the rollers 5, and the diameter of the root circle of the teeth is greater than the diameter of the pitch circle. The gear teeth may be formed directly on the rollers, or toothed wheels 9, Fig. 3, may be attached to each side of the rollers 5 by means of pins 12 and screws 13. The teeth on either side of each roller are in alignment, and the two sets of teeth are finished together during one functioning of a gear cutting or grinding machine. Axial projections 14 on the rollers bear against guiding surfaces for locating the rollers axially.
