Abstract

691,273. Rollers. COTTAM, E., and COTTAM, R. B. July 30, 1951. [Nov. 15, 1950] No. 27872/50. Class 42 (ii). [Also in Group IX] A roller forming part of a fibre condensing device in a spinning or like machine (see Group IX) is formed of two portions A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP>, portion A<SP>1</SP> having a hollow cylindrical portion a<SP>1</SP> which is a sliding fit in a corresponding recess a<SP>2</SP> in portion A<SP>2</SP>. A compression spring F is arranged between the two roller portions and a screw E engaging a screw thread in portion a<SP>1</SP> serves to adjust the relative positions of portions A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP> for varying the width of a groove a formed between the two portions. The roller may be of metal or a synthetic resin.
