Abstract
619,055. Bracelet clasps. NAPPER, A. F. May 9, 1946, No. 14086. [Class 43] An adjustable clasp for a strap of the type comprising two plates 1, 2 hinged together at 3 to fold down one on to the other, one end 5a of the strap being attached, through a slot 4, to the free end of the top plate 1, the other end 5b being adjustably engaged in a slot 6 in the free end of the lower plate 2, which has a series of spaced holes 7 along its length with any one of which a spring stud 8 on the adjustable end 5b of the strap may engage, is characterised in that the stud 8 comprises a base 8a having two integral bent-up prongs 8b. The prongs are so shaped that when inserted in a hole 7, their ends expand to grip the straight sides of the hole before entering a clearance slot 11 in the top plate 1 ; the base 8a is located between two plies of material which form the strap end 5b. The plate 2 has side flanges between which the plate 1 is releasably held in the folded position by the engagement of lugs 9 on the edges of the plate 1 with slits or depressions 10 in the flanges 2a of the plate 2.
