319,124. Sawer, D. W. R. Aug. 25, 1928. Meat, dressing.-A binder for viands or other articles comprises a metal or other nexible strip or chain having at or near one end a number of spaced perforations or a longitudinal slot and having at the other end a hook or other fastener for engagement with one of the perforations or with the slot. In one modification, the perforations are spaced apart along the major part of the strip, and the hook is formed integral with a finger grip or handle. As shown in Fig. 2, the band is formed in two parts 14, 15 adjustably interconnected by sliding the part 14 through a slot 21 in a downturned flange 20 on the part 15 and engaging an upturned projection 19 of the part 14 in one of a number of transverse slots 22 in the nart 15. The ends are secured together by a clamping screw 18 on the part 15 engaging a longitudinal slot 17 in the part 14. The band may have more than two adjustable parts. As shown in Fig. 3, a slotted plate 24 is secured to one end of a chain 23 whilst a plate 25 carrying a clamping screw 18 is secured to the other end. A hook fastening may be used in the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 13965/87, [Class 44, Fastenings, Lock &.c.]; 14694/92, [Class 109, Ropes &c.]; 9792/04, 18306/05, 8717/13, and 126,307, [all in Class 44, Fastenings, Lock &c.].
