618,707. Wrenches. PHILPOTTS, H. Nov. 12, 1946, No. 33631. Addition to 602,224. [Class 61 (iii)] The wrench of the parent Specification comprising a detachable U-shaped jaw member 11 adapted to be locked in the body 10 by a rotatable toothed T-headed member 18 engaging teeth on the legs of the jaw member 11 and tightened on the work by a nut part 32 on the rotatable handle 33 engaging the threaded stem of the member 18 has the body formed of two channel section members facing one another and welded together along their meeting edges and a thrust washer or washers 37 are interposed between the end of the body stem and a shoulder on the handle. When the jaws are shaped to provide a polygonal outline for gripping a nut, the teeth 14 may be dispensed with. The friction between the screw and nut member may be increased to ensure actuation of the T-headed locking member when the handle is rotated by various means such as an interposed fibre washer 45, Fig. 10, and then springs 46, Fig. 12, may be riveted opposite one or both openings 24 in the body to assist in moving the locking member out of engagement.
