Abstract

615,767. Lids and covers for resisting fluid pressure. BAKARIAN, P. W. Aug. 13, 1946, No. 24020. [Class 123(i)] In a domestic pressure cooker wherein steam pressure forces a rigid, oval-shaped lid 5 upwardly against an inwardly flanged top 2 of a vessel 1, the lid 5 is preliminarily located in position by means of a straight bar 20 extending horizontally outwards from a boss 19 on the centre of the lid 5, the bar 20 being fulcrummed about an upstanding boss 9 on the vessel 1 and releasably engaged at its remote end with an arm 12 extending from the vessel 1. The lid, which has an undercut rebate 7 for receiving a gasket 8, may have straight parallel sides joined by semi-circular ends.
