[Class 123(i)] The lid B of a pressure cooker A is provided with a resilient handle 35 which upon insertion of the lid into the elliptical opening 11 of the cooker so that a gasket 20 around the edge of the lid bears upon the underface of a flange 10 around said opening, is adapted to be releasably latched to a hook 15 on the end of the cooker handle 13 by a depending wire bail 16; the handle 35 is also provided intermediate its ends with a depending fulcrum stud 41 for engagement with a bracket 43 on the handle 13. The inner end of the lid handle 35 is formed with an opening 37 and is secured to the lid B by a central vent tube 25 which passes freely through said opening 37 and through an anchor piece 32 between which and a shoulder 31 on the tube 25 the handle end is slidable to a limited extent so as to enable the lid to float or tilt slightly with respect to the handle. As shown, Fig. 4, the anchor piece 32 is T-shaped in cross-section, the handle 35 fitting between the upper flanges thereof and the lower flanges engaging a. corrugation 21 on the lid to prevent relative rotation of the lid and handle. The vent tube 25 has an associated weighted valve head 26 to provide a pressure relief valve D, and the lid is fitted with a safety plug 22.
