Abstract

484,122. Teapot &c. handles. TOMKINSON, Ltd., F. W., and TOMKINSON, E. M. Nov. 7, 1936, No. 30356. [Class 66] Handles are attached to teapots, saucepans, &c., by the provision on one of the parts, e.g. the handle, of a cap or washer provided with spring tongues, and on the other part, e.g. the vessel, of a socket provided with a flange or lip behind which the tongues are adapted to be engaged and anchored when the cap has been forced into the socket. Fig. 3 shows a cap f provided with tongues g attached to a boss at the end of a saucepan handle and engaged in a socket b provided on the saucepan ; the inner face of the flange e is inclined so that as the tongues spread out after entry the parts are drawn closely together. In the case of a teapot &c., both ends of the handle are so formed. Fig. 5 shows a metal handle m having the end formed as a socket for engagement by a cap mounted on a boss provided on the vessel. A resilient disc or washer may be placed in the socket to be compressed by the boss as the handle is forced into place. The caps may be of square or other shape to fit correspondingly shaped sockets.
