Abstract
615,243. Sleeve couplings; cable harness. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and STEVENS, J. W. S#NGER-. March 27, 1946, No. 9542. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A vibration-proof bonding coupling 2, 6 comprises a split tube 7 which is fixed to one coupling part 6 and is arranged to permit telescopic movement of the parts relative to each other, means 3, 4 being provided to deform the tube and thereby lock the parts in any desired telescopic position. The coupling is provided with a split tube 4 which is carried slidably on a ferrule 1 on the end of the other coupling part 2 and co-operates with the tapered mouth 7b of the tube 7 and secured therein by a union 3. The ferrule is grooved for a sealing ring 5. According to a modification, Fig. 5, the part 2<1> carries a sleeve 9 and a ferrule 8 which receives the mating parts 6<1> upon which is fitted a sealing washer 10 retained in a stepped groove 9a in the sleeve 9 which is provided with a slotted skirt 9b around the part 6<1>. A clamp 11 surrounds the slotted skirt 9b to secure the parts 2<1>, 6<1> in any desired position. In another modification, Fig. 9 (not shown), the part 6<1> carries the ferrule which is grooved for the sealing washer and the part 21 is fixed to the sleeve and its deformable skirt.
