Abstract

992,378. Hose couplings. STRATOFLEX Inc. Feb. 14, 1964, No. 6232/64. Heading F2G. A fitting for a hose 11 comprises a socket 17 and a nipple 18 secured together, as by a screwthread 19 or by brazing, to provide an annular opening for the reception of the hose, the socket and nipple including gripping and sealing sections, there being means formed on the socket and nipple in the gripping section for making the opening in that section substantially sinusoidal. As shown, the socket and nipple are provided respectively with projections 24, 25 at the gripping section, and in the sealing section the socket has annular or thread-like ribs 33 of buttress form; in the sealing section, the nipple is provided with ribs 29 of sharp annular form and ribs 30, 31 of rounded annular form. The socket is swaged or crimped in two stages, the gripping section being swaged first. A skirt 34 prevents sharp bending of the hose and the entry of moisture into the fitting.
