1510013 Pipe joints REHAU PLASTIKS GmbH 8 April 1975 [8 April 1974] 14463/75 Heading F2G In a spigot and socket type pipe connection, a sealing ring 3 and circumferential groove 2 in which it is housed are positioned towards the wide point of the socket length on the side thereof nearer the neck, and the zone of the socket between the groove and neck is tapered over at least a part thereof. The sealing ring groove is placed preferably at a distance ratio 3 : 2 as measured from the socket mouth 12. The socket diameter immediately to the inner side 21 of the groove is preferably of smaller diameter than that on the adjacent outer side 22, and at the innermost socket end 11 may correspond to that of the spigot pipe end diameter.
