Abstract
613,438. Walls. CENTRAL CORNWALL CONCRETE & ARTIFICIAL STONE CO.. Ltd., and TONKIN. R. H. Oct. 18, 1946, No. 33554/45. [Class 20(iv)] The vertical precast concrete standards 6, in the cavity walls of prefabricated buildings of the kind'formed by mounting slabs 1, 10 on edge one above the other between the standards, each consist of two spaced units, respectively supporting the inner and outer slabs, connected together at their upper ends by dogs 6a grouted in top apertures, and at their lower ends by pinions 11, formed one on the bottom of each unit, entering mortices 12 in a base course 13. The standards have vertical grooves 5, 8 to receive the ribs 4, 9 of the slabs and the corresponding units of adjacent standards are tied together by iron &c. rods 14, which are screw threaded at the ends and pass through apertures in the inner ribs 16 of the standards and lock by washers and nuts 17. Between the standards the rods pass through tubular spacing members 15, and at the corners they may connect to angle irons which tie the corner uprights together at right angles. Lintels 19, which are stooled at the ends to bear on the standards and may be formed in two parts as shown, and a cornice 20, which may be channelled to receive a wooden &c. beam for attaching the roof may also be fitted (see Fig. 2). The slabs 1, 10 are similar to those described in Specification 613,500, and the walls may have a corner formation similar to that described in Specification 613,501.
