Abstract

498,590. Reinforced -concrete floors. WALLER, J. H. DE W. May 3, 1938, No. 12935/37. [Class 20 (iv)] Relates to reinforced-concrete floors of the kind comprising pre-cast reinforced-concrete joints J having longitudinally extending steps which support the shuttering upon which the concrete is poured. According to the invention, the joists are reinforced by sets of upper longitudinal members N, lower longitudinal members M, and substantially vertical members L embracing the members M and N, and the floor is reinforced by horizontal metal rods I which are embedded either in the joists and extend into the flooring, as shown in Fig. 1, or in the flooring and extend above the tops of the joists through which the members L extend, as shown in Fig. 4. Each side of the joist J, Fig. 1, is formed with three steps D, E, F, the lowest step F of which supports the shuttering which may be of asbestos cement, metal, or wood. The stops E may be used to support further reinforcement which extends through the flooring and rests upon similar steps of adjacent joists.
