Abstract

613,277. Rail-vehicle bogies. SlNCLAIR, F. W., and GLOUCESTER RAILWAY CARRIAGE & WAGON CO., Ltd. June 17, 1946, No. 18085. [Class 103 (vi)] A bogie truck for rail vehicles comprises double-plated side frames 1, 2, Fig. 2, connected by crossmembers D, E and supporting a bolster C in which the side frame plates are spaced apart by upper and lower channel sections 3 and the springs 8 supporting the bogie side frames and the springs 28 supporting the bolster are housed within or substantially within the side frame plates, the springs being suspended centrally by links 10, 20 within the side frame plates. The side frame plates are extended above the gap for the axle boxes and are connected by a top channel 7 above the springs 8. Longitudinal members 37 carry the anchorage 38 for the brake levers and supports 39 on the cross members carry the brake blocks. The bolster C, Fig. 3, is supported by springs 28 mounted on a stirrup 20 suspended at 23 between the side frame plates, the stirrup carrying a plate 25 and spring seat 26. An inclined plate 30 which extends the bolster through the side frames carries a complementary spring seat 32 and side rubbing strips 34, Fig. 2, which engage with corresponding rubbing strips 36 on the side frames. The lead springs 8 may be replaced by a bar anchored to springs in the side frames.
