Abstract

612,112. Refrigerating. SHEARER, C. T. A. July 23, 1945, No. 18879. [Class 29] Absorption systems of the intermittent reversible type have a secondary generator-absorber 16 in a direct return conduit 14 between the evaporator 3 and the main generator-absorber 4, and a non-return valve 15 in this conduit to prevent hot gases from the generator-absorber 4 passing back into the evaporator. The secondary generator-absorber is heated during the absorption phase of the main generator-absorber 4, and a second non- return valve 17 prevents the absorbed gases reaching the evapcrator. The main generator-absorber is connected through a condenser 1 and pipe 5 with a vacuum jacketed receiver 2 from which the refrigerant is fed to the evaporator 3 by a valve 10 controlled by a thermostat bulb 11 in the food chamber. Radiant heating elements 13 are provided in the generatorabsorber, which contains activated alumina.
