Abstract

574,464. Refrigerating. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 12, 1944, No. 578. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1943. [Class 29] [Also in Group XXIX] The flow of refrigerant from the condenser 16, Fig. 3 to the evaporator 11 through a capillary tube 17 is maintained constant under variable pressure and temperature conditions in the condenser by providing heat exchange between a part 18 of the capillary tube and the condenser, to vaporize refrigerant in the capillary tube, or, as shown in Fig. 4, by admitting high pressure uncondensed vapour through a branch capillary tube 30 to an intermediate part of the flow capillary tube. The heating is effected by locating the part 18 of the capillary tube in one of the condenser tubes, and further heat exchange may be provided between the delivery end 27 of the capillary tube and the bottom tube 28 of the evaporator. The capillary tube and the high pressure vapour branch may be connected to a refrigerant receiver at the end of the condenser.
