Abstract

422,438. Refrigerating. KILBURN, B. E. D., 31, High Holborn, London.-(Siemens- Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges. ; Siemensstadt, Berlin) Jan. 9, 1934, No. 857. [Class 29] Absorption muchines.-In a continuous absorption refrigerating- machine, solution from which refrigerant has been driven off in boiler A passes from rectifier E to an auxiliary boiler B in which further refrigerant is driven off in the presence of an inert pressure equalizing gas, the refrigerant vapour pressure in boiler B being less than that in boiler A. Solution passes from boiler B through tube B<1> to the main absorber C and then passes by connection C<1> to an auxiliary absorber D and then by a tube D<1> to the boiler A. Gaseous refrigerant from the rectifier E passes by tube E<2> to the condenser F and evaporator H. Inert gas circulating through tubes H<1> and C<2> conveys refrigerant from the evaporator H to the absorber C. Inert gas circulating through tubes B<2> and D<2> carries gaseous refrigerant from boiler B to absorber D. The latter inert gas circulation is aided by an injector jet K supplied with gas from pipe E<2>. Tubes H<1> and C<2> and tubes B<2> and D<2> may each pass through heat exchangers of the type in which moisture condensing from the warmer gas stream is led into the cooler gas stream to be re-evaporated therein.
