[Class 135] [Also in Group XIII] The flow of liquid refrigerant in a compression refrigerating machine is controlled by a capillary tube, blockage of which by the freezing of traces of water in the system is overcome by increasing the tube bore where the refrigerant temperature is less than 32‹ F. The condenser 9 of the refrigerating machine is connected by a capillary tube 11, 14 with an evaporator 3. The bore of the coiled section 14 is greater than that of the section 11 and their relative lengths are such that the fall in temperature of the refrigerant below 32‹ F. takes place only in the section 14. In modifications (not shown), the part 14 may be replaced by parts 16, 17, the parts 11, 16, 17 being of successively increasing bore or the part 14 may continuously increase in bore from the part 11 to the evaporator 3.
