Abstract

1,021,538. Refrigerating. STAL REFRIGERATION A.B. Jan. 1, 1965, No. 77/65. Heading F4H. In a refrigeration system having two evaporators 6, 7 connected in parallel, refrigerant from the condenser 2 passes through an expansion valve 3 then through a downpipe 4 to a regulating device 5 which comprises a spring-loaded piston 9 (Fig. 2, not shown) controlling the flow of refrigerant to pipes 10, 11 leading to the evaporators. The piston is stated to maintain the refrigerant pressure in downpipe 4 sufficiently above that in the evaporators to ensure that the latter are supplied equally with refrigerant even when they are at different levels, as may occur when the system is installed on a ship. Expansion valve 3 is controlled in dependence on suction line temperature.
