Abstract

1,152,346. Refrigerating. WORTHINGTON CORP. 30 Aug., 1966 [13 Oct., 1965], No. 38608/66. Heading F4H. In a compression condensation refrigeration system liquid refrigerant from the condenser 28 passes to a receiver 30 from which refrigerant passes into a conduit 32 to cool the compressor motor and through a float operated expansion valve 70 to the evaporator, the arrangement being such that there is a preferential flow to the motor. As illustrated, refrigerant from the condenser flows through openings 44 into a compartment 42 and thence over a wall 56 into evaporator and motor feed compartments 62 and 52 respectively. The wall 56 is of two heights so that refrigerant will flow to the motor compartment 52 before flow runs to the evaporator compartment 62. The compartment 52 is covered with a perforated plate 88 to act as a filter. The pipe 32 and the casing 66 of the expansion valve project upwardly into the feed compartments to inhibit flow of solids from the feed compartments.
