Abstract
611,774. Furniture combinations. LOWCOCK, F. May 8, 1946, No. 13855. [Class 52(iii)] A chair &c. is provided with a table top or its supporting structure which may be stowed away in the front, back or side of the chair &c. and is withdrawable therefrom into an operative position in which it is connected to leg portions which are stowable in the chair &c. As shown the chair 20 is provided with a recess 25 in which may be stowed two hinged table top panels 26 and a table top supporting structure. The latter comprises a rectangular frame comprising end members 27, 28, side members 29 and a medial member 30. Grooves 32 are formed in the sides of the recess 25 and at the top are extended forwardly as shown at 33, 33a. Pins 31 on the structure guide its withdrawal and when in operative position the rear end of the structure is supported by the chair back and the forward end by pivoted legs 35 which engage pegs 23 formed in a recess 22 in the arms 21 and are normally covered by ashtrays 24. The structure, which has a part 34 conforming to the chair back, when in operative position uncovers the recess 25 whereupon the table panels 26 may be withdrawn and supported and held on to the structure by means of clips. In another form the table panels may be housed in a recess below the chair seat and may be withdrawn either from the front or the rear.
