Abstract

[Classes 75(ii) and 75(iv)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVIII] In a control system for the indicator arms and the head lamps of automobiles the switch member which operates the indicator arms also serves to close, through a suitable control switch, the circuits of solenoids which swivel the associated headlamp. As shown in the drawing the control switch comprising two arms b and c serving to energize the operating solenoids f, h together with the arm illuminating lamps g, i, of the left- and right-hand indicator arms respectively, also energizes, when the switch v is in position shown by the dotted lines, the operating solenoids w, x of the left- and right-hand headlamps m, n respectively to cause the appropriate headlamp to swivel in the required direction. Opening the control switch v to the position shown by the full lines permits operation of the indicator arms without swivelling of the headlamps. A dipping switch o is provided by means of which the right-hand headlamp n is cut out whilst at the same time the operating solenoid u of the left-hand headlamp is energized to swivel the lamp towards the left.
