Abstract
609,990. Variable-speed gearing. ABBEY, A. (Aktiebolaget Westerasmaskiner). March 27, 1946, No. 9492. [Class 80 (ii)] In a variable-speed gear for seed-sowing machines, the driving and driven shafts 8, 31 carry step gears 9, 10 and 23-30 respectively, which are engaged by gear systems 12, 17 and 21, 22 slidable on an intermediate shaft 16 by levers 11a, 20a respectively, the first system providing at least four speeds by the use of a double gear 12, 13, meshing respectively with the step gears 9, 10 and with a gear 14 non-rotatably mounted on the intermediate shaft 16, and by gear 17 also meshable with the gears 9, 10, the rotation of the shaft 16 being transmitted to the driven shaft 31 through the gears 21 or 22 meshing with the step-gear 23-30. The gear 7 on the driving shaft is driven from the driving wheel of the machine and the gear 32 drives the shaft for the seed-feeding apparatus. As shown, 64 equally spaced ratios are obtainable.
