Abstract

609,934. Door fastenings. BANHAM, W. F. March 26, 1946, No. 9247. [Class 44] A door fastening comprises two mortice bolts 12 fitted within the jamb 11 of a door and interconnected by an axially rotatable rod 14 carrying an abutment 15 movable by the latch 16 of the, door lock to force the bolts 12 into engagement in recesses 13 in the door against the action of a coiled spring 32. Alternatively, each bolt may be spring loaded. The springs return the bolts when the latch 16 is retracted. The rod 14 is coupled to the bolts 12 by levers 18 of arcuate form, the ends of which ride in recesses 30 in the bolts. The bolts 12 slide in a tubular housing and the relative movement between a bolt and its housing is limited by a pin on the one contacting a pin on the other.
