609,861. Valve amplifying circuits. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. March 19, 1946, No. 8422. Convention date, June 30, 1941. [Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi)] In a push-pull amplifier in which neutralizing condensers 7, 8 are connected between the output electrode of each valve and the grid of the opposite. valve, parasitic oscillation is prevented by connecting a short-circuited transmission line 9 between the grid terminals of the two neutralizing condensers. The length of the line is arranged to approximate to an odd number of quarter wavelengths at signal frequency and an even number at the frequency of parasitic oscillation. When the anode of the valve forms part of the valve walls the neutralising condenser electrode may concentrically surround part of the anode, connection being made to the transmission line at a point diametrically opposite to the point of connection to the electrode of the grid. Neutralizing readjustments consequent upon changes of tuning of the amplifier may be carried out by varying the length of the line.
