Abstract

696,801. Valve amplifying circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Dec. 28, 1951 [Jan. 23, 1951], No. 30303/51. Class 40 (vi). In an ultra-high frequency amplifier of the type described in Specification 538,206 in which the input is applied to one electrode of a valve, the output is taken from a second electrode and a neutralizing impedance is connected to a third electrode, a circuit having a negligible impedance at the operating frequency is connected between the third electrode and the first or second. The grounded grid valve 1, Fig. 1 is arranged with a neutralizing inductor Lg in the cathode lead and a series resonant circuit comprising the inductor L1 and capacitor C4 between cathode and grid. The capacitor C4 is chosen to have a capacity equal to the grid-cathode capacity C1. The input 27 is applied to a resonant cavity turned by plunger 25, Fig. 2, the project. ion 22 being terminated in a part 24 which grips the cathode 11. The grid 10 is held by spring fingers 30 in a cylinder 29 mounted on an apertured disc 31 forming the inductor Lg. The cathode lead is the inductor Ll and the capacitor C4 is formed by the cylinder 32 encircling the part 24. The output cavity is tuned by spring plunger 18 and the output is taken over lead 20.
