[Class 110 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] In a gas turbine plant, the pipes, combustion chamber and similar structures which are traversed by hot gases comprise an inner heat resistant wall, an outer pressure resistant wall, openwork material in the space between these two walls, and means for supplying cooling gaseous fluid under pressure through ports in the outer wall so that it flows across the openwork material to ports in the inner wall in a direction transverse to both walls. Heat from the inner heat resistant wall i is prevented from flowing to the outer pressure resistant wall j by a number of screens e1, e2, e3 and by a current of cooling air supplied by pipes alpha, #, gamma which flows across the screens through holes l in a countercurrent to the flow of heat to the ports alpha<1>, #<1>, gamma<1>. The screens may be corrugated and superimposed upon one another with the corrugations at different angles to allow cooling air to pass between the screens. In a modification, the screens are replaced by a filling of rings formed of metal or refractory material. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement where the wall and the screens e1, e2, e3 are not perforated and separate cooling air streams flow parallel to the gas stream between the screens e1, e2 and e3. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
