Abstract

607,498. Printing-machines. TIMSON, E. A. Feb. 6, 1946, No. 3744. [Class 100(ii)] Printers' blankets or similar devices 2 are attached to impression or like cylinders 1 by means of locking strips 9 of bevel formation secured to the ends of the blankets, and adapted to be received into grooves 13 of similar shape formed in a tightening-bar 8 mounted in a recess in the cylinder and rotatable for putting tension on the blanket. The bar 8 is held in adjusted position by a ratchet and a locking pawl. The shaft 8 is fitted with claws 15 at each end formed of curved strip metal adapted to engage the locking-strips 9 and to draw them into the grooves 13 at the commencement of the tightening operation, and to hold them firmly in locked position. As shown, each end of a blanket 5 is similarly controlled by bars 8 arranged in one groove accessible through a narrow aperture 3, but one end may be held by known clamping-means. The strips 9 may be replaced by a series of short strips.
