Abstract

1300575 Mounting printing plates BAKER PERKINS Ltd 15 June 1970 [1 July 1969] 33297/69 Heading B6C Flexible printing plates are secured to a printing cylinder with gripper mechanism having means whereby the plates may be skewed for registration purposes and the plate gripper head is independently movable longitudinally. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the leading edge is held by a gripper head 31 forming part of a longitudinal gripper blade 26 held by a bar 17 and readily movable longitudinally of the cylinder by releasing clamping screws 23. The trailing edge is held by longitudinally spaced pivotably mounted resiliently loaded gripper heads 35 actuable for release purposes by shaft mounted cams 37. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 each gripper head 231, 235, is adapted to receive either the leading or trailing edge by providing means whereby it is either fixed or resiliently loaded relative to the cylinder. For circumferential adjustment of the plate the bar 17 of Fig. 1 and the bar 251 of Fig. 5, are movable laterally within the housing 10, 210 of the gripper mechanism.
