Abstract

1320118 Printing apparatus WOOD INDUSTRIES Inc 26 April 1972 [26 April 1971] 19281/72 Heading B6C A plate cylinder 10 includes multiple clamping means for the leading edge 13 and trailing edge 14 of a flexible printing plate 15, located within the cylinder. The edge 13 is bent, and is received between a fixed surface 20 and a pivoted clamping member 17, and the similarly bent edge 14 is held between a pivoted clamping member 18 and a spring blade 39 mounted at 35 on the member 19. Two cams 27, 43 act on the outer surfaces of the members 17, 18 and coil springs 25, 26 act between the 'member 17 and the blade 39 and between the members 17 and 18 respectively. Rotation of the cams moves 'the top end of the member 17 away from the surface 20, and allows the top end of the member 18 to move towards the surface 32. A pin 40 on the blade 39 projects through a hole in the member 18, and strikes a surface 42, moving the blade away from the top end of the member 18. The ends 13 and 14 can then be inserted. The members 17, 18 and their associated blades and springs are duplicated along the length of the cylinder 10, and are interchangeable.
