Abstract

1,217,156. Printing cylinders. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. 27 June, 1968 [30 June, 1967], No. 24820/67. Heading B6C. In a printing cylinder in which plates are arranged side-by-side and the plate mounting means are in the form of a carrier block structure fixed in a longitudinal gap in 14 the cylinder the plates are selectively released for removal purposes through the actuation of a cam-shaft 12 rotatably mounted in the block structure. The cams 23 on the shaft interacts with spring- loaded tensioning fingers 40 mounted on a finger shaft 13 lying parallel with the camshaft and the cam-shaft carries blade means 10 for engaging the leading edges of the plates whilst the fingers engage the trailing plate edges. Through appropriate turning of the camshaft 12 any plate can be released without disturbance of the other plates. In all cases these adjustments are very conveniently effected from one or both exposed ends of the printing cylinder. Also by adjustment of bolts 22 associated with the relevant leading blade, the circumferential position of any plate can be adjusted, without disturbing the circumferential position of the other plates to adjust registration in multicolour printing.
