Abstract
607,339. Inductances. STATIC CONDENSER CO., Ltd., TIBBS, C. E. M., and STANLEY, E. C. Jan. 30, 1946, No. 3029. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a radio - frequency electrical heating apparatus wherein an air-spaced helical copper coil a in the output circuit thereof has an adjustable tapping in the form of an internal contact wheel b movable along the coil and supported on a subsidiary shaft c driven by and urged outwardly from a main driving shaft d coaxial with the coil, connection is provided between shaft c and one stationary terminal of the apparatus by resilient copper beryllium plates m bent to form parallel contact plates ml which bear on a sleeve n coaxial with shaft d and forming said terminal secured to the frame of the apparatus. Shaft c is slidable on a pin f screwed into a collar e secured to shaft d, a spring h on the pin urging said shaft outwards. The plates m<SP>1</SP> are slit to form contact fingers q, one of which, r, bears on the collar e and forms a low impedance byepass for stray currents from the shaft d to the sleeve n.
