Abstract

606,379. Tanks. WERNER, N. E. Jan. 14, 1946, No. 1211. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1945. [Class 69 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Round metal containers or conduits, such, for example, as described in Specification 576,893, [Group XXVIII], are characterised by the provision of spacers 33 between the brackets 16 to keep them properly separated; also projections 34, preferably welded, may be provided on the circular bars 15 to prevent circumferential movement of said brackets. A lining of refractory tiles 28 is mounted on the brackets 16 arranged on interrupted circular bars 15 attached to the metal wall 11 by plates 12. The brackets have flanges 24 adapted to enter grooves 25 and 27 in adjacent rows of tiles, whilst the spacers 33 keep the brackets properly separated. The projections 34 welded on to the bars 15 prevent movement of said brackets along said bars. Bolts 14 passing through slotted holes in the bars 15 allow for expansion and contraction of the latter, and the space between the metal wall 11 and the tiles 28 is filled with heat insulation 30. The container may also have an inverted cone bottom portion fitted with a lining as above, a section through the wall of which is shown in Fig. 1.
