Abstract

958,448. Furnace doors; refractory bricks. VEITSCHER MAGNESITWERKE A.G. Oct. 5, 1962 [Oct. 27, 1961], No. 37851/62. Heading F4B. The lining of a furnace door comprises alternate zones of crushed refractory material 2 and refractory bricks 1, which are secured to the door by means of metal members 4 covered by the crushed refractory. Metal strips 4 are spot welded to the metal door body at 7, and engage flanges 6 on the metal casing of the bricks 1. The bricks 1 may have metal reinforcements 11 extending perpendicular to the door face, and the ends of the bricks 1 are undercut to form a bond for the crushed refractory 2. Sheet metal strips 8 may be arranged across the face of the door. Burnt bricks 9, Fig. 4, have recesses 9a engaged by lugs 10a bent from a metal cover 10 with flanges 10b which are fastened to the door. The door may be lined with compound bricks with the portions of different material extending perpendicular to the door face.
