Walls.-The bolts securing fire bricks in place in a furnace are protected from the heat of the furnace by forming in the fire-brick 1 above the head of the bolt 2 a dovetailed recess in which is placed a plug 4 of like conicity to the recess with a lining 3 of fire-clay between the plug and wall of the recess.
