Linings; arches; casings and walls.-Firebrick protectors 2 for the seams of locomotive fireboxes are supported by hook-bolts 9 secured in thimbles 10 screwed into the overlap of the plates. The bolts 9 may make engagement with the thimbles 10 either by a screw or a bayonet joint. The back of the firebrick is hollowed to form a ledge 5 for supporting the brick and a recess is formed at the front of the brick to co-operate with the hook of the bolt. Fastenings of a similar kind may be used for supporting the bars carrying the arch.
