Abstract

318,581. Liptak Fire-Brick Arch Co., (Assignees of Moe, I., and Smith, C. A.). Sept. 6, 1928, [Convention date]. Bricks for furnace arches.-Furnace arches of the kind described in Specification 143,972 are provided with intervening spaces between the upper and lower rows of blocks to contain water tubes for cooling the arch and supplying the boiler. In arches having an upwardly extending inner end portion the tubes are carried therethrough. Fig. 1 shows an arch of the kind described in Specification 226,089. The horizontal portion of the arch, also shown in Fig. 2, and the inner upwardly extending portion, are formed of blocks 21, 22 supported on hanger bars 19, while the curved portions of the arch are formed of blocks 24, 25, Figs. 1, 5, and 6. Water tubes 23, connected to upper and lower water drums 26, 27 are arranged in recesses formed between the blocks. The upwardly extending portion of the arch is surmounted by filler blocks 31 of the form shown in Fig. 7, and an apron wall 29 supported on brackets 30.
