304,673. Dickinson, A., (Executrix of Dickinson, H.), and Robinson, P. J. Oct. 18, 1927. Blocks, special shapes,of.-In a steam-generator furnace having its walls formed with vertical grooves E in which are located water-tubes D, the grooves are formed by blocks B detachably secured to the bricks A forming the main wall. As shown, the wall bricks A are. provided with dovetail grooves a', while the shanks b<1> of the blocks B are tapered on one side only, the blocks being secured in the grooves a<1> by wedges C. The blocks B are, in the bottom or hottest zone of the furnace, formed with outwardly flared parts b<3> to protect the tubes D, while in higher less heated zones, the sides of the blocks are respectively parallel and tapered towards the furnace side.
