Linings; grates; fuel-economizers.-A fire-brick for stoves, furnaces linings, and the like, of the type having vertical passages 13 with angularlydisposed mouths 14 at the bottom to return dust to the fire, together with passages 15 extending between the passages 13 and the front face of the brick, which may be vertically corrugated or ribbed, is formed with a, recess 9 on the rear face, into which open horizontal or inclined passages 16 extending from the passages 13. The brick shown is for the side of a domestic grate; for furnace linings the bricks may fit together by means of tongues and recesses or the like. They may be of fire-clay, cast-iron, or other suitable metal.
