Abstract
288,479. Puffett, H. Sept. 5, 1927. Smoke, consuming; baffles; firebridges.-A perfora,ted refractory wall 8 is erected behind the finebridge 3 of a furnace to form a secondary combustion chamber 7. The bridge is formed of metal bars of the kind described in Specifications 23888/13 and 131,821 and the firebars are preferably of the kind described in Specification 237;526. Air enters the secondary combustion chamber through a door 12. The area of the openings in the wall 8 is not less than the area between the top of the firebridge and the furnace wall. The wall 8 may be formed of brickwork or may be moulded, and it may extend to the bottom of the flue instead of being mounted on the supporting plate 5.
