605,529. Planting machines. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN. Dec. 28. 1945, No. 35080. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1944. [Class 6(i)] A machine for planting seed lings is provided with two endless conveyer belts 1 and 2, one of the belts having both a horizontal and a vertical portion and the other belt 2 being arranged to bear against the vertical portion of the first belt to grip the plants during their motion to the ground. In the form shown, seedlings are placed by operators into spaced recesses on the horizontal run of a belt 1 driven by a roller 3. After passing over a roller 6 the belt travels vertically and is joined by a second belt 2 which bears against it and grips the plants during their descent to a furrow formed by a tool 25. The belts are enclosed in a casing 10, which is rocked about a pivot 13 in synchronism with the motion of the belts so that at the instant of planting the forward motion of the vehicle is compensated, leaving the plants with a vertical motion only. Water is supplied through a hose 23 pinched intermittently between studs 22 and 24. Seats are provided for the operators.
