Abstract

605,225. Driving-gear. ABBEY, A. (Aktiebolaget Gotaverken). Dec. 18, 1945, No. 34275. [Class 7 (ii)] The crankshafts 1 and 2 of an opposed piston engine are synchronised by the gears 7 and 8 and are connected to a main power shaft 3 through a reduction gear 5, 6 and clutches 4 which may be electromagnetic, as shown, or hydraulic. The intermediate gears 8 may be replaced by a chain or connecting rods. A number of the engine units shown may be arranged around and to mesh with the gear 6 each crankshaft being supplied with a clutch.
