604,853. Valve circuits for radio reception. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Dec. 6, 1945, No. 33018. Convention date; Aug. 28, 1940. [Class 40 (vi)] A radio receiver is fed from direct current mains 1 through a filter comprising chokes 3, 4 and electrolytic capacitors 5, 6. A relay coil 9 in the cathode lead of one of the valves 2 controls contacts 7 so that only if the polarity of the supply is such as to cause anode current to flow in valve 2 are capacitors 5, 6 connected in circuit, thus saving damage to the capacitors due to reverse connection. Further contacts controlled by relay 9 may serve to mute the loud-speaker until the relay has operated. Grid bias for one or more valves may be taken from coil 9.
